No More Lazy Sundays

I’m currently showing this picture taken earlier today to Samantha and Amelia in case they need a little visual reminder of what they should be doing right now at 10 p.m.:

They were the sweetest little angels all morning! They even let me dress them up in cute dresses and take them to church for an hour where everyone fawned over them. Not a peep the entire time! Ever since we’ve been home, though, they’ve protested LOUDLY every time we’ve tried to put them down for a second to do very non-essential things like go to the bathroom, eat, blink, etc. DUH, MOM, NOT IMPORTANT they said. So I’ve been carrying Amelia all day in the Baby Bjorn, while Jake has had Samantha in the Ergo Baby carrier. I didn’t get any pictures because the girls wouldn’t let us.
Simply being held got boring after a while. Samantha and Amelia wanted to be entertained. Their swing, bouncer and play mat were not acceptable, because those activities required them to be set down instead of held. So we walked around their nursery, walked around the master bathroom, watched the fan in the master bedroom, walked down the stairs, walked up the stairs, watched the fan again, opened the blinds, closed the blinds, observed some plants in the backyard, observed some plants in the front yard, looked at pans in the kitchen, stared at ourselves in various mirrors, watched balloons rise, watched balloons fall, looked at the other twin, watched daddy barbeque some chicken, watched mommy make a salad and some rice, watched Bandit beg for food, watched Daddy watch Samantha…lots and lots of carrying and watching took place! It was a great work-out, but we are TIRED.

In between watching stuff, it was one…

…or the other…

ALL DAY. I think they conspired against us and planned it last night.

After Jake and I ate dinner standing up/rocking to and fro, the girls said that a walk outside would be acceptable, so to Bandit’s relief, we finally got out of the house at the end of the day for an evening stroll. Then it was time for a bath, which Samantha and Amelia always find quite enjoyable, and then theoretically, bed. NOOOOOO the girls said.

I have a feeling this is just foreshadowing for what’s in store for us during the toddler years and beyond!

I’ve finished this post and the girls are still wide-eyed. No more lazy Sundays for us.

Lots of love,

  1. Way Too Cute!!!

  2. Hi Becca! I'm excited that you have a blog now because like pretty much everyone, I'm fascinated with twins, and I've never known anyone who had them (except my Grandma). And you are a clever writer. So I hope it's not too weird that this girl you met once down in South America is now reading your blog! You can read mine too if it helps… your girls are adorable!! 🙂

    • Yay, I love blog stalking! I love your blog! Don't underestimate the power of weird Chilean chili fries and touring Pablo Neruda's house to bond people! Friendships were forged and memories made!

Having twins is pretty crazy, although I don't really have anything else to compare it to I guess. I can imagine having more than 1 kid of different ages would be crazy too, so bravo!
