‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all thro’ the house…
…Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse…
…Except for this little Amelia rodent.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of sugar plums danc’d in their heads.
This was actually a nap…and I wasn’t really sleeping.
[Her] eyes – how they twinkled! [Her] dimples how merry…
[Her] cheeks were like roses, [her] nose like a cherry!
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And fill’d all the stockings; then turn’d with a jerk
Obviously, the girls were DYING to get their hands on all those interesting wrapped packages under the tree (hence the gate), so on Christmas Eve, we let the girls open one present each (some pajamas and a Christmas book for each girl). Since one of the twins’ favorite pastimes is crinkling/tearing/eating paper, I figured they’d have no problem ripping the wrapping to shreds, but, surprisingly, we had to show them what to do. Eventually, they got the hang of it!
How did you know? Just what I wanted!
Nom nom.
When I went through these pictures afterwards, this one cracked me up. Amelia looks so dejected with her presents…probably because we took the wrapping paper away from her.
Samantha opens her book, only to be completely disinterested with everything except the wrapping paper.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
Lots of love,
