Nap schedules have been going smoothly for the past few months, with the girls taking a morning nap from 8:30 or 9 a.m.-10 a.m. and then from 1-3 p.m. This past week, Samantha and Amelia decided they hated naps and cried/wiggled/screeched/babbled/sang/clapped and did anything they could think of to delay going to sleep. “NAPS ARE FOR BABIES. WE ARE TODDLERS,” they told me, defiantly.
While they might just be transitioning into taking one nap a day instead of two, the worst part is that they are dead tired when they don’t go down on time. They desperately NEED their naps, and the more tired they get, the more resistance they put up to going to sleep. The girls have a very short window for being drowsy and drifting gently off to dreamland (about ten minutes). Once I’ve missed it, they both get their second wind, which means rocking them for 45 minutes in order to calm them down.
Most importantly, I NEED them to nap. That’s the only time I have to clean up the tornado that is our house, blog, dry my hair, and have a little me-time without adorable, yet annoying toddler hands pulling at my legs.
For the love of all that is good and right in the world, PLEASE GO TO SLEEP.
Lots of love,
