Easter 2019

We love spring and Easter!

Our little Easter egg.

Yearly mandatory Easter photo torture. At least the bribe of the Easter egg hunt makes it a little more palatable for them.

Eleanor’s first Easter!

And they’re off!

We did our Easter egg hunt at the pocket park across the street, and it ended up being a little muddy, so I was constantly yelling at everyone to not get their dresses dirty.

Easter 2018

Easter happened to fall during the twins’ Spring Break this year, so we took a road trip to Utah, leaving at 3 a.m. on Saturday and arriving a record 8.5 hours later. I was dreading the driving, especially being uncomfortably pregnant, but it was actually our best road trip ever! Meredith had intermittent bouts of screaming to get out of her car seat, as expected, but for the most part, the girls were great and we only stopped three times for gas and bathroom breaks, making the journey seem short from what we are used to. We may finally be turning a corner on road trips!

Easter was easy for me this year since my mom had bought everything for their baskets and Uncle Mike and Ali put them together for me. They also filled the eggs with candy, a few with dollars and hid them around the backyard. I did absolutely nothing but relax, so it felt like the Easter Bunny really did come this year!

Sunday morning the girls awoke to their Easter baskets and a giant Easter egg hunt in the backyard. Along with bubbles, stuffed animals and a few other crafts and toys, they loved the peanut butter caramel chocolate eggs inscribed with their names– thanks, Grammy! I didn’t have to put in any effort at all!

Meredith, what is this pout face about??!

Meredith wanted to enjoy her chocolate after finding each egg instead of waiting until the end.

Amelia was excited about actually having to hunt for eggs this year, since we have a much smaller backyard!

Samantha shows off her basket.

Nom nom.

I brought some silly string and the girls had their first silly string fight in the backyard!

They mostly just stood straight across from each other and sprayed, instead of running around.

Meredith was not a fan of the silly string!

Help me, Uncle Mike!

Take cover!

It was a gorgeous spring day and the girls played outside after all the Easter morning excitement.

Story time.

Grandpa had made a delicious seder meal the night before and Sunday we all enjoyed Grammy’s Easter feast.

Devouring matzoh kugel and fruit kugel the night before Easter for Grandpa’s seder dinner:

Grammy’s yummy Easter dinner.

Yum!

We were so glad Uncle Mike and Ali came down from Wyoming to spend Easter and that we could make it to Utah this year! The girls had their best Easter ever!

Pre-Easter Festivities

Our community Easter Festival was just a quick stroller ride away, and it was nice to be able to walk down there, since the place was packed with hordes of kids. While standing in line to hold a spot for the toddler portion of the Easter egg hunt for 45 minutes, along with everyone else in town, I kept wondering why we weren’t skipping the madness and having our own pre-Easter egg hunt at home… but by then, the kids weren’t going anywhere! While I waited in line, the girls met the Easter bunny and tried out all the bouncy houses and carnival games, so I guess I wasn’t missing out on much.

Ready, set, go!

Not much of a hunt when the eggs are just scattered all over the grass.

This really needs to be more challenging, guys.

Once Meredith realized there wasn’t any candy in the eggs (just small toys), she dumped her entire basket out!

A volunteer helped her put them back, but she wasn’t really interested in keeping them!

No, really, I don’t want these!

For the older kids, they did several different “hunts” which you had to get tickets for in advance, so there wasn’t a line. Why they didn’t do that for the toddler hunt, I have no idea.

Again, not much of a hunt!

Meredith LOVES garbage trucks and will run from wherever she is inside the house on trash day to see it pull up to our curb.

Waiting to get lunch from the food trucks.

WHAT IS ON MY FACE?!

Let’s frolic!

Bunny Breakfast

Our Moms of Multiples Club throws an annual private Bunny Breakfast at South Coast Plaza and everyone was excited to meet the Easter Bunny! It’s always adorable to see so many twins and triplets dressed up in coordinating outfits, and now that I’m the one with “older” twins, I can actually sit down and enjoy the catered breakfast while trying to help the moms with twin babies as much as possible! I used to look at those moms with the older twins with envy and would always bombard them with questions asking for advice, but now I’m always a little taken aback now that I’m that mom and people with little twins come to me with questions! Time flies.

Previous years…

2014:

2015:

2016: My parents took the twins while we stayed home with baby Meredith. Samantha was a little distrustful of robot bunny.

2017: Meredith did not want anything to do with the creepy animatronic bunny!

2018: This year, the girls interacted with the scary robot bunny, answering his questions and even giving him a hug.

The Bunny Breakfast happened to fall on the day before St. Patrick’s and the twins had a leprechaun celebration at preschool right after breakfast, so we opted for green outfits.

Looking through the wishing well.

Free carousel rides are basically the main reason we’ve come every year.

So nice that the girls are old enough to sit down and be content with craft projects all by themselves. Even though we only had to watch Meredith, she still somehow ended up with marker all down her legs.
