Ode to Hopscotch

One of the many things I’d like to remember about the twins at three years is their penchant for hopscotch. “Draw me a hopscotch, mommy!” is a common refrain around here and I always oblige since it never fails to provide ten minutes of free and hilarious entertainment for me.

I think it’s safe to say that Amelia won the hopscotch battle this time around.

Ray of Sunshine Meredith

Lately on Sunday mornings, we’ve been trying to take some pictures of Meredith since I’ve realized I have far less documentation of her than I do of the twins during each stage. She is such a smiley, happy, giggly baby!

I give you… baby in a basket.

Yo.

We are working on sitting up unassisted.

IMG_3074

I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!

IMG_3075

That’s going to take some serious core work to get back up, guys.

Hold up. Per my union contract, I’m entitled to a five minute break.

Kids and Cars in the Pool

As the temperatures have heated up, we’ve wasted no time enjoying water adventures.

Meredith has become a pro at lounging in beach chairs, “shade-bathing.”

IMG_0139

We went with the Wrights for our first trip of the season to the Ladera waterpark.

Thanks for inviting us, Allie and Maliyah!

IMG_0153

We upped the challenge of popping water balloons by putting them on the tramp. Twice the time to pop = twice the time the girls aren’t bored and bugging me.

IMG_3035

The girls love to hang out with Great Grandpa at his community pool.

Why our own neighborhood pool is currently out of commission:

IMG_0237

Our pool in the news:

That was our excitement for the week! Apparently, the old lady didn’t have a license (and for good reason)! The pool crash happened earlier this week, which coincided with temperatures rising… bad timing. Since Jake is on the board, he’s been fielding inquiries night and day as to when our pool will be up and running. Besides a few destroyed tiles, there wasn’t too much damage sustained to the pool itself, but they still had to drain the pool and the gate is completely demolished. Every time we drive by, the twins ask when our pool will be fixed and they love to show all their friends the picture of that “silly car in the pool…cars don’t swim!”

Memorial Day 2016

Over Memorial Day weekend, we went on a “hike” with all three girls plus Bandit and must have looked like quite the caravan to all the mountain bikers we passed along the way.

Jake somehow balanced 70 pounds of twins plus a 17 pound baby in the front across three different creeks without even getting his shoes wet. Impressive! I carried myself and fell in the water every time.

IMG_0061

We brought the double stroller to carry our stuff, but of course, Samantha and Amelia begged to be pushed part of the way.

Pretending to be stick-wielding bears in a cave… or something like that.

IMG_2936

Our friends, the Nguyens, hosted a festive Memorial Day barbecue at their new house and the girls definitely approved of the menu. Phi and Michael went overboard and served some amazing ribs, tri tip, and salmon for the adults, plus hot dogs for the kids… clearly, we needed more protein!

Me, Sarah, Phi, Jessica and Sheela with the gang. The kids had a blast running around together and bouncing in their blow-up bounce house as we all feasted. The best part about get-togethers with kids is that they all entertain each other. Lily read the twins books, Parker jumped with them in the bounce house, and Maple chatted with Meredith. A big thanks to the awesome hosts!

IMG_2977

And if all that excitement wasn’t enough, we burned some energy that afternoon at a park with some perfect scootering paths.

IMG_0067

The girls’ scootering skills have really improved as of late. They are fearless.

A week later, the girls carried on their American pride by accompanying us to the polling station and showing off their “I Voted” stickers . Won’t be long until they are voting for real!
