For the twins’ Spring Break this year, we had a relaxing week in La Jolla. I could 100% move here and be happy forever. From the gorgeous coastline to the cute shops, we LOVED it.
Last minute, Jake had to attend an ex parte hearing the day after our first day of the trip was planned, so the girls and I did a girls’ trip and Eleanor alternated between going to work with Jake, Jake working from home, and Eleanor staying at home with a babysitter while we were away. We missed Jake and Eleanor, but I have to say the trip was a thousand times easier without a baby in tow! I had forgotten how easy it was to change plans on a dime, not be constricted to two naps a day, and not have to have all the baby gear in tow while we were traveling.
We stayed at a boutique hotel called the Pantai in La Jolla, which was lovely. If we went again, I would definitely get the ocean view rooms as those looked amazing. We loved the great location, kitchen inside our room and because it was such a small hotel, the service was really personalized. The staff brought us beanie baby stuffed animals for each of the girls upon our arrival and our kitchen was stocked with free water and juice and all the snacks we could ever need.
This grassy area and beach walk was right across the street from us and we walked here several times a day.
Exploring rocks at sunset.
Day 2: After a yummy breakfast al fresco at the hotel’s patio, we explored the coastal path to see La Jolla’s famous sea lions and seals.
Who cares about seals when there are squirrels?
I could stare at the aquamarine tidepools forever. Can you spot the seals?
“Ew, stinky!” commented the girls. They really were pretty smelly.
The Children’s Pool beach is closed to the public because it was breeding season, but we could still spot all the seals sunbathing from the pier.
What a life.
We explored the coves and climbed rocks looking for crabs and other sealife.
La Jolla Shores beach had a cool park we played in for a bit before heading to the water. We were there on a weekday, so it was uncrowded with just local moms meeting up with their toddlers. It was fun doing my normal mom thing in a different location!
Fighting over the coveted seaweed jump rope.
Lots of love,
